Believer’s Boot Camp Lesson3: God the Holy Spirit

Believer’s Boot Camp Lesson3: God the Holy Spirit

The final person of the Trinity is the Holy Spirit.  Though His role is often in the background, He is fully God and shares in all the power and glory of the Godhead.  His roles and character can be seen in the following study.

“Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind. We are useless.” – Charles Spurgeon

Who the Holy Spirit is.

The Holy Spirit is a person. He is not a force or power without consciousness or will.  Look at how the scriptures reveal God the Holy Spirit.

 He is God.

Same attributes and works as God and Christ.

Same Works  and Words attributed to God and the Holy Spirit. (Isaiah 6:8-10 then Acts 28:25-27)

Called God (Acts 5:3-4, 2Cor 3:17,18)

He is a personal being.

Personal pronouns used of Him (John 14:17, 16:14)

He has been given a personal name  (John 14:15)

He has personal characteristics.

Read the following verses and identify the personality trait.

Intellect

Senses

Will

1Cor 2:11

Rom 8:27, 15:30

1Cor 12:11

He performs personal acts.  (See table of works above.)

Conclusion

Though the Holy Spirit should never take preeminence over Jesus Christ, we sometimes ignore the important work He does through us.  Without Him prayer would be impossible, there would never be a Bible, nor assurance of salvation, indeed no salvation at all. By indwelling us the Holy Spirit creates an abode for The Father and the Son within us.  He is the presence of God in us, the greatest gift to be given to man except eternal life through Jesus Christ.
